Toledo, February 2012. - The Spanish Federation for Animal Welfare, FEBA, has addressed a request to Excma. Ms. Maria Dolores de Cospedal, President of Castilla-La Mancha, asking for a revival of the bill for the Protection of Animals. The bill was paralyzed by the previous government, after a second draft and after a hearing was given to interested parties. The aim of teh new bill is to replace the old outdated law, which was in force in 1990 in Castilla-LaMancha, with new legislation more in keeping with current attitudes toward animal welfare.
To support this request FEBA has delivered a further 32,347 signatures to the President of the Junta de Castilla-La Mancha. Added to the 27,603 previously sent to the President (22,580 in March 2009 and 5023 in March 2011) this brings the total to 59,950 requests asking for the enactment of the new law for the Protection of Animals that would reveal the truth about the treatment of these dogs used for hunting and help to ensure that they are better protected. Some of the proposed measures included are:
The FEBA campaign is managed by Ong ADDA who are also one of the founding members of the Federation.
