NGO ADDA together with 7 animal welfare associations (see list below) have delivered to the President of the Catalan Parliament, M. H. Ms. Núria de Gispert, the President of the Generalitat, M. H. Mr. Artur Mas, the Minister of Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries, Food and the Environment, Mr. Josep Maria Pelegrí, and the spokespersons of the parliamentary groups of the Parliament of Catalonia, a MANIFESTO, to express their grievance against the authorization of bullfighting shows under the concept of "tientas" (trial) have been practiced and carried out repeatedly in the region of Alfara de Carles (Baix Ebre). A press release was also sent to the media.

According to the Department of Agriculture of the Catalan government, these bullfights "do not violate the aspects covered by the rules of protection of animals or the animal welfare". Nonetheless these shows that aim mainly at tourists who visit Catalonia, infringe Article 6 letter f of the law 28/2010 for the Protection of Animals, which prohibits "to conduct any form of bullfights that occur within or outside the bullring".

The ban on bullfighting in Catalonia was the result of many years of campaigning and many citizen’s claims. Now we cannot consent the re-establishment of any form of bullfights in Catalonia to favour a minority of stakeholders by breaching the Law for Protection of Animals which clearly forbids it, disregarding the will of the vast majority of citizens.
