The APDDA asks the Government about alternatives to animal experiments

Madrid, june 2013. - At the proposal of Ngo ADDA, the Spanish member of the ECEAE (European Coalition to End Animal Experiments) , the Spanish MP Chesús Yuste, member of the the APDDA – Parliamentary Association en Defense of Animals - addressed to the Parliament written questions, together with a request for a written answer, about the need to promote alternative methods to animal experiments, according to article 47 of the new Directive 2010/63 transposed to article 4 of Royal Decree 53/2013.

The questions, published in the Official Gazette of the Parliament, No. 288, of June 12, ask how much the Government funds were directed toward alternatives ( replacements, reduction and refinement methods) in 2010, 2011 and 2012 and how much it is committed to continuing funding in 2013 and beyond in line with Art. 47. Questions were also asked about how much is being done to meet other mandatory measures under the European Directive.
