NO to the "Correbous" nor to "Tientas"

Barcelona, July 2014.- On Saturday 12 July, the Animalist Party PACMA, organised a demonstration in front of the Catalan Parliament to protest against the continuity of the bull runnings “correbous” and “tientas” (trial of young bulls) . Ong ADDA attended and support the demo.

We recall that while bullfights were banned, in Catalonia in 2010, Nonetheless “correbous” still remain and have passed into legislation with the support of the same parties that voted against bullfights.

Now the Catalan Parliament is also considering the legislation of “tientas” as shows mainly for tourists who visit Catalonia every year. This would infringe Article 6, f of the Law 28 / 2010 for the Protection of Animals, which bans “any form of bullfighting activities within or outside the arenas."

The ban on bullfighting in Catalonia, was the result of many years of continuous struggle and citizen protests. Ngo ADDA considers that no form of bullfighting can be tolerated in Catalonia, because it violates the Law of Protection of Animals as well as favouring the interest of a minority whilst disregarding the will of the majority of citizens.
