Barcelona, October 2014.- On Saturday October 11th. The animal party PACMA and Igualdad Animal (Animal Equality), organized in the main Spanish cities a demonstration to demand the resignation of the Spanish Health Minister Ana Mato and health councilor of the Community of Madrid, Javier Rodriguez , after they authorised the slaughter of Excalibur, the dog of nurse infected with Ebola.
Ngo ADDA joined the protest in front of the Delegation of the Spanish government in Barcelona. More than 300 protesters gathered here, and showed their support for the nurse, who is recovering in Hospital Carlos III in Madrid.
When it was confirmed that the nurse Teresa Romero was infected with Ebola, the authorities ordered her dog Excalibur to be put to death. Despite the strong opposition of her husband, who was held in hospital under quarantine, and of animal advocates who gathered in front of their home to prevent Excalibur from being killed, the dog was euthanized.
