Barcelona, October 2014.- Sunday 19 October saw the closing of the the tenth annual Animaldda Fair, an event that puts the focus on the welfare and protection of abandoned pets. The event took place at the Barcelona exhibition centre, the Palau Sant Jordi (Sant Jordi Club).
The number of adoptions was significant; around a hundred animals, including cats and dogs, were adopted at the Fair; other adoptions were arranged with the 23 Shelters that participated in the Fair. As in previous years, we expect that, in the days following the fair, the number of adoptions will increase.
This year the Animaladda Fair paid tribute to EXCALIBUR, the dog of Teresa Romero and Javier Limón. Excalibur was arbitrarily and swiftly put to death by the authorities when Teresa, a nurse, was found to be infected with Ebola. Animaladda made available to visitors a book of condolence so they could express their solidarity, support, love and understanding to Teresa and Javier. 428 people left their testimony with touching and sympathetic messages of support and affection.
The book of condolence will be handed over to Teresa and Javier as soon as possible, to serve as a keepsake of Excalibur.
