The Catalan Government launches a campaign for responsible pet ownership

Barcelona, July 2016.- The Minister of Territory and Sustainability of the Generalitat de Catalunya, Josep Rull, and the Secretary of Environment and Sustainability, Marta Subirà, presented on July 21th at the Palau Robert in Barcelona, the campaign for responsible pet ownership "Posa'm el Xip" (Put me the Chip on).

The aim of this campaign is to inform the general public of the responsibility that implies taking care of a pet (dog, cat and ferret) and the obligation to identify them with the chip, as well as hanging a plaque with the pet's name in their collar, and register them in their respective municipalities and to hang on their collar a plaque with the pet’s name.

The Minister also reported that next September will start the procedure for the drafting of the Regulations of the Catalan Law for the Protection of Animals, still pending since 2003, when this law was passed.

A great number of animal welfare associations, including Ong ADDA were invited to the presentation .

We appreciate the involvement of the Government to sensitize the public on responsible pet ownership and their commitment to fight against pet abandonment.
