ANTI-BULLFIGHTING INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE
“Bull Fights: Union against Cruelty

Barcelona, 21st and 22nd of February 2008.
Location: Gran Hotel Havana. Gran Via Corts Catalanes 647.
Organisers:
Association Defending Animal Rights, ADDA, Barcelona. (Spain).
World Society for the Protection of Animals, WSPA, London. (U.K.)

For the first time, Barcelona hosted an International Conference whose aim was to analyse and debate the issue of bull fights.

For two days, 22 representative experts from varied cultural and professional fields analysed the cruelty of this spectacle based on the perspective of their respective professional disciplines, expressing their criteria and expertise as well as their personal thoughts and sensitivity. Both individually and independently, this outstanding group of speakers have jointly coincided in their mutual condemnation and criticism of this cruel and antiquated spectacle, which is increasingly rejected and in confrontation with the social reality of our age and contemporary Europe.

All their interventions, in addition to their intrinsic value and interest, represent a valuable contribution towards the common goal to prevent the practice of public torture against animals - a custom which characterises ages that have fortunately passed- from continuing.
Approximately 200 people registered for the Conference, which included persons from different points of our geography, different European countries, and other continents.
